Papua New Guinea have finished top of Group B with a 1-0 win over Fiji at Govind Park in Ba to conclude Round 2 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ Oceania Qualifiers.

Having had wet weather earlier in the week reschedule their meeting, both nations came into the fixture with two wins from their two previous Group B matches.

Papua New Guinea looked the better side throughout, Gloria Laeli nodding the ball against the right post from a Ramona Padio corner delivery in the first half.

The Kulas best chance of the match came at the start of the second stanza, Trina Davis forcing Betty Sam into a save from close range.

It was the Bilums who stole victory late in the contest though, Meagen Gunemba scoring the winner in the 86th minute following a cutback from Mavis Singara.

Papua New Guinea and Fiji now both look ahead to joining New Zealand and American Samoa in Round 3 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ Oceania Qualifiers, to be played in New Zealand in mid-April.
